MEPZ’s 3rd Health Camp Offers Free Diagnostic Tests

November 4, 2025

The MEPZ Tambaram has marked a significant step in its employee welfare mandate with the launch of its Third Annual Health Check-up Camp. The initiative offers a comprehensive suite of advanced diagnostic tests, completely free of cost, to all employees within its vibrant industrial ecosystem. Commitment to Preventive Health This year’s month-long camp underscores MEPZ's unwavering commitment to preventive healthcare and wellness. Building on the success of previous years, the program has notably expanded its offerings to ensure broader and more accessible preventive screening. New additions include blood tests, X-rays, and Doppler tests for varicose veins, enhancing early detection for the vast industrial community. “Health is wealth,” remarked Thiru. S. Balachander, IAS, Commissioner, Tambaram Municipal Corporation, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. “Among the most important aspects of life... health always comes first. Regular exercise and mindful habits are essential to long-term well-being.” Evolving the Wellness Model The initiative reflects MEPZ's continuous evolution in employee support. Thiru. K. Prabhu Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner, MEPZ, expressed his appreciation for the program's growth, stating: “Each year, we evolve by tracking the health of participating employees. Last year’s Pap Smear test (Cervical Cancer) focus on women’s health set a strong precedent, and this year we’ve added new diagnostic tests to make the initiative even more impactful.” The camp is a collaborative success, organized in partnership with the MEPZ MA, Dr. Rela Institute Medical Centre and Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital. Dignitaries, including Dr. D.C. Gauthaman, Medical Director, Rela Institute, and Dr. N.Y. Rajan from Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, lauded the efforts of Zonal Development Commissioner, Thiru. Alex Paul Menon, IAS, for championing accessible healthcare within the industrial zone. Commended for its efforts, the MEPZ Health Camp is now viewed as a model for integrating preventive care, early diagnosis, and health awareness into workplace culture. With over 10,000 employees  benefiting from the previous edition, the camp continues to be a vital platform for promoting a safer workplace and a culture of proactive health awareness across the zone.   https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2185979
