MEPZ-SEZ Celebrates International Women’s Day with Learning, Leadership and Inclusion

MEPZ-SEZ commemorated International Women’s Day on 6 March 2026 with a day-long celebration centred on the theme “Give to Gain: Lead with Purpose. Grow with Inclusion.” Held at the APJ Abdul Kalam Hall, MEPZ Admin Block, Tambaram, the programme brought together members of the MEPZ-SEZ community for a day of insightful sessions, meaningful dialogue, cultural performances and reflection.

The celebrations featured expert-led sessions on contemporary themes of workplace leadership, organisational culture and inclusion. Ms. Pushpa Bhagyanam TRV, Senior Manager – Learning, and Ms. Jeevika Perumal, Principal Technology Consultant, led engaging sessions on “The Power of Everyday Leadership,” “From Compliance to Culture,” and “The Future Is Intelligent – Is It Inclusive?” The sessions encouraged participants to reflect on how everyday actions, workplace practices and emerging technologies can contribute to more inclusive and purpose-driven organisations.



The afternoon featured a vibrant cultural programme, providing an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents through music, dance, mimicry, stand-up, skits and other performances. The programme added an element of creativity and camaraderie to the celebrations.

A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion on “Building Gender Inclusive Organizations: Policy, Practice & Culture.” Moderated by Smt. Jennifer Difiva E, Deputy Development Commissioner, Office of the Zonal Development Commissioner for SEZs and EOUs, Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Nicobar, and Puducherry Region, the panel brought together perspectives from industry and professional leaders. The panellists included Smt. Sandra Andrews, Senior Director & Regional HR Business Partner, Flextronics India Pvt. Ltd.; Smt. Subathra Mylasmy, Managing Partner, A.K. Mylasmy & Associates LLP; Smt. Dilshad Azim, Human Resources Leader & Chairperson, CII – Indian Women Network (IWN), Chennai Zone; Smt. Maheswari, Vice-President – Product & Manufacturing Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, E-con Systems; and Shri Shaj K, HR Head, Gislen Software. The discussion explored the importance of moving beyond policies and compliance towards building inclusive workplace cultures through meaningful practices and leadership commitment.



The celebrations also featured a special session by Ms. Nivedhita Louis, offering participants an opportunity for reflection and learning. The event concluded with prize distribution and a vote of thanks, bringing together the day’s themes of leadership, inclusion, self-reflection and collective growth.

The International Women’s Day celebration at MEPZ-SEZ served as a platform to recognise women’s contributions, encourage purposeful leadership and reinforce the importance of creating inclusive workplaces, while fostering learning, interaction and a strong sense of community among participants.
