Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department of Commerce, New Delhi vide Notification No: S.O.2320 (E) dated 1.10.2008 have constituted the SEZ Authority. It will function under the name and style as MADRAS SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE AUTHORITY having its Head office as MEPZ-SEZ, Tambaram, Chennai - 45.

The MSEZ Authority started functioning w.e.f. 1.4.2009 onwards.

MEPZ Authority is the Developer and the Administrator of MEPZ - SEZ.

• The MSEZ Authority collects the revenue receipts ( Rent, Water charges, Private Security charges ) from the units functioning in the Zone and incurs expenditure on maintenance of the Zone campus. ( Minor works and Special Works).
• Periodical meetings are conducted by the Authority in which major decisions were taken and implemented inside the Zone campus.

• Trade Representative members changed for every two years. As per the instruction no.82 of Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
